It is the mission of Troy Niles Community High School to meet the emotional and social needs of the 16-19 year old student through a non-traditional education setting, so that they may achieve high academic success and be better prepared for the challenges of life.
Niles Community High School has been in existence since 1995. The high school
was created to assist students that demonstrate low academic success due to
social, emotional or behavioral issues. NCHS offers an accelerated academic
program that allows students who have fallen behind in credits to catch up
and graduate according to their original date of graduation.
More than 90 percent of the students who enroll at NCHS have successfully
graduated, earning a nationally recognized Troy School District diploma. Of
the students who have graduated, more than 95 percent have sought post-secondary
education.
A state-of the art science lab, electronic library, NCHS school store, and newly-added multi-purpose room are just some of the facilities that make NCHS a great place to learn.
NCHS has been afforded all of the latest technological support. This includes a comprehensive integrated communication system with voice, data, and video capabilities in each classroom. There are two, 20-station computer labs with the latest software programs and a classroom set of laptop computers. The new Learning Resource Center allows students the ability to research topics for their various classes. Each individual classroom is equipped with a computer workstation to assist the teacher with instructional presentations.
The NCHS Parent Group meets once a month. They come together to support each other and listen to speakers addressing current teen-related information. The Parent Group raises money to award at least 10 academic scholarships each year.
